Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 tablespoon oil (vegetable oil)
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 400 grams tomatoes, diced (canned)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken stock (must be salt reduced, or water)
  • 2 teaspoons thyme, fresh roughly chopped
  • 40 grams dry French onion soup mix ( dried packet not canned soup, 1.4 oz)
  • 1.2 kilogram chicken drumsticks (8 drumsticks)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a small saucepan heat the oil and gently fry the onion until it is transparent (not golden) then remove saucepan from heat from & add the soy sauce, french onion soup mix, tomatoes, thyme and stock; Stir to combine ingredients.

  • Step 2: In the slow cooker place the drumsticks so that the heavy/large ends are all on the bottom.

  • Step 3: Pour over the sauce mix and gently move the drumsticks around until they are all coated with the mix.

  • Step 4: Cook in slow cooker on low for 8 hours.

  • Step 5: Serve with steamed veggies, mash and or rice.
