"These little clouds of meringue are sweet and have a crunch to them. Just a small bite of happiness to end a meal or to add to a cookie tray. The "forgotten" refers to leaving them in the oven until it cools, and the original recipe said to just leave them there overnight."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease a cookie sheet or line with parchment or foil.
Step 2
Beat egg whites to stiff peak stage. When you lift the beaters, the meringue will stand in peaks.
Step 3
Add sugar slowly, beating to combine, and beat again until glossy and stiff, adding vanilla at the end.
Step 4
Gently fold in the pecans or the chocolate chips (or both)
Step 5
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto the greased or lined cookie sheet.
Step 6
Place in the preheated oven and immediately turn the oven off.
Step 7
Leave them in until the oven cools completely.
