Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease a cookie sheet or line with parchment or foil.
Step 2: Beat egg whites to stiff peak stage. When you lift the beaters, the meringue will stand in peaks.
Step 3: Add sugar slowly, beating to combine, and beat again until glossy and stiff, adding vanilla at the end.
Step 4: Gently fold in the pecans or the chocolate chips (or both)
Step 5: Drop by teaspoonfuls onto the greased or lined cookie sheet.
Step 6: Place in the preheated oven and immediately turn the oven off.
Step 7: Leave them in until the oven cools completely.
