Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a large frying pan, heat the oil.

Step 2

Add bratwurst and brown, turning occasionally, add red pepper; cook, stirring 1 minute.

Step 3

Stir in sauerkraut and continue cooking 1 minute.

Step 4

Add wine and caraway seeds.

Step 5

Cover pan tightly, reduce heat and cook over low heat for 30 minutes.making sure it doesn't boil dry.

Step 6

Toast buttered French rolls,

Step 7

Place bratwurst in each roll and top with equal portion of sauerkraut mixture.

My German hubby loved the sandwich...he said it was worth a Michelin star...(I'm not sure of that)...this was so easy to toss together...I cut the recipe in half and now he has leftovers for tomorrows lunch...I added about a tablespoon of German stone mustard onto the toasted bread...and served chips on the side...he didn't even ask for a pickle...made for "FYC" tag game...

Great sandwiches! We skipped the wine and the caraway seeds - subbed in some beef broth for some fantastic brats! Served with coleslaw and chips! A great meal that is also fun to eat. Thanks for sharing!
