"Joel e carson mamie Eisenhower uncle Boone iowa.it said nuts but black walnuts were alllll over iowa and Nebraska. I made in 9x9 pan and it filled it completely up .it raises like crazy it only took 30 minutes to cook in my toaster oven"

Step 1

Cream sugar and shortening

Add flavoring

Add egg one at time

Sift dry ingredients

Then sift again into mixing bowl

Stir in bananas and buttermilk

Pour batter into pam sprayed greased and floured 9x5x2 loaf pan

Let rest 20 minutes meanwhile preheat 350 degree oven

Let bake 60 minutes

Test for doneness with toothpick

Let cool 10 minutes

Remove from pan cover with towel let cool completely

My daughter made this this for my hubs today, seeing that banana bread is one of his favorites. This bread sure did put a smile on his face as well as ours and it was sure well enjoyed. We keep on picking at it. Followed all as directed, except, that we skipped the black walnut flavoring and for the walnuts themselves due to availability. Thank you, Dee, for sharing.
