Dom's Mamma's Spaghetti Sauce With Italian Sausage

"From Dom DeLuise. This can be actually be served without pasta. Some recommended pastas are ziti, rigatoni, ravioli, and angel hair. Use hot or sweet sausages, or a combination, your choice. Add a couple more mushrooms if you like them."

Step 1

Place sausage in a skillet. Add hot water, cover, and cook for 10 minutes.

Step 2

Remove sausages and separate links if necessary. Discard drippings.

Step 3

In a large pot or Dutch Oven, saute mushrooms, carrot and onion just until al dente.

Step 4

Add sausages.

Step 5

Add remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer 1 hour, or until thickened, stirring occasionally.

Step 6

Serve over pasta, or by itself with hot crusty bread.

The hubby and I made some homemade Italian sausage...we had half a pound of the meat that didn't play nice with the I made this which was enough for two servings...I did use canned diced tomatoes...this is really good..."RIP" Chocolatll

Just made this.. what a big winner, a few addin's were 2 dried minced cayenne chili peppers for heat and some chopped garlic, fantastic with spaghetti and lots of fresh parmesan cheese, this is an excellent sauce, thanks!
