Step 1: Place sausage in a skillet. Add hot water, cover, and cook for 10 minutes.
Step 2: Remove sausages and separate links if necessary. Discard drippings.
Step 3: In a large pot or Dutch Oven, saute mushrooms, carrot and onion just until al dente.
Step 4: Add sausages.
Step 5: Add remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer 1 hour, or until thickened, stirring occasionally.
Step 6: Serve over pasta, or by itself with hot crusty bread.
