Step by Step Method
Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit
Add skillet and bacon grease to oven while mixing batter
Mix the cornmeal and salt together
Add buttermilk and bacon grease
Add just enough buttermilk to make a smooth dough start with 1 cup and go up to a cup and a half stir with wooden spoon
Pour into hot skillet be careful of popping grease
Put skillet back in oven
And let it cook for 25 minutes.
Until it's lightly browned and leaves no indent
