How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit

  • Step 2: Add skillet and bacon grease to oven while mixing batter

  • Step 3: Mix the cornmeal and salt together

  • Step 4: Add buttermilk and bacon grease

  • Step 5: Add just enough buttermilk to make a smooth dough start with 1 cup and go up to a cup and a half stir with wooden spoon

  • Step 6: Pour into hot skillet be careful of popping grease

  • Step 7: Put skillet back in oven

  • Step 8: And let it cook for 25 minutes.

  • Step 9: Until it's lightly browned and leaves no indent

  • Step 10: Parton says you'll know the corn bread is ready if it springs back when you tap it.
