"Mom made this whenever anyone was too sick to eat normal food but it is good anytime. So delicious I have made for others too sick to eat and this is the first thing they have been able to eat. Must cook in a water bath of custard will not be tender but rubbery. If you do not scald milk it will take longer to bake.If this is all you can eat your servings may be 1"

Great recipe...very easy to make with wonderful results! I made mine in a glass loaf pan placed in a glass 13x9  with hot water. I scalded my milk in a pyrex in the microwave. Mine did take about 45 minutes to firm up, but it may have been because my oven wasn't preheated enough. This is an eggy lightly sweet and soft custard, so to make it more to my tastes...I enjoyed it over bananas with caramel sauce and whipped cream. Yum! Made for the Recipebook tag game.

I saw this here and wanted to make some. I hadn't had custard for years. What a great dessert this was. I ate it out of the refrigerator with some whip cream on top. So creamy and smooth and delicious. I am going to give this recipe to my daughters to try. They will love it just like I do!

Pure comfort food, just the way my grandma used to make it. I also added some nutmeg.
