"What a Southern summer time delight! Served along with some crispy Fried Chicken, Potato Salad, Slaw and some fresh out of the oven Cornbread they can't be beat! Butter beans have a luscious creamy texture and they keep their pretty green color. Don't get them confused with lima beans. They are pale grey to white when cooked and are mealy in texture. Step by Step Method

Step 1

Place butter beans, butter substitute, chicken bouillon and enough water to cover the beans, in a small slow cooker.

Step 2

Cook on high for 1 1/2 hours.

Step 3

Turn crock pot to low and cook for another 2-3 hours, or until butter beans are tender.

Step 4

Add a small amount of additional water during cooking, only if needed.
