"I love hot apple cider, with or without adult spirits added. With this recipe, you can make your own and avoid store bought which could be highly processed. Eat it out of the crockpot for events, or store in a jug or pitcher in the fridge and then warm up a mug in the microwave."

Step 1
Place apples, orange, lemon and cranberries in a 6 quart slow cooker..
Step 2
Add cinnamon sticks, cloves and pour water until you cover all of the fruit.
Step 3
Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6 hours.
Step 4
Mash the fruit with a potato masher to release the juices. Cover and cook an additional 60 minutes on low.
Step 5
Carefully strain the solids from the liquids using a stainer over a large bowl or second crock pot. Return cider to the original crock pot after removing fruit stuck to the crock or turn the heat to low if serving from a 2nd crockpot. If not serving immediately, pour into pitcher with lid or jug which can be stored in the refrigerator.
Step 6
To serve, using soup ladle, fill mug, adding 1 shot of rum or vodka if desired. If serving after cooled in the refrigerator, fill mug and microwave until hot.
