Step 1: Place apples, orange, lemon and cranberries in a 6 quart slow cooker..
Step 2: Add cinnamon sticks, cloves and pour water until you cover all of the fruit.
Step 3: Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6 hours.
Step 4: Mash the fruit with a potato masher to release the juices. Cover and cook an additional 60 minutes on low.
Step 5: Carefully strain the solids from the liquids using a stainer over a large bowl or second crock pot. Return cider to the original crock pot after removing fruit stuck to the crock or turn the heat to low if serving from a 2nd crockpot. If not serving immediately, pour into pitcher with lid or jug which can be stored in the refrigerator.
Step 6: To serve, using soup ladle, fill mug, adding 1 shot of rum or vodka if desired. If serving after cooled in the refrigerator, fill mug and microwave until hot.
