"I made a few changes to the recipe from veggieinspired.com. This was created for leftover cranberry sauce. Keep that in mind because you may want your oatmeal sweeter or less sweeter."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a pot, place the water and the mashed banana. Whisk the banana into the water.

Step 2

Stir in the oats and cinnamon, bringing to a boil. After it comes to a boil, reduce to medium-low for 5 minutes or until it gets creamy.

Step 3

Mix in the cranberry sauce. Let the sauce heat up for a minute.

Step 4

Pour into a bowl. Mix in the brown sugar and then add a spoonful of cold cranberry sauce on top if you would like.

DH and I both really liked this! After I read the recipe carefully, I realized it included cranberry sauce (which I did not have) vs. cranberries (which I did have). I had some lingonberry preserves and used that, since lingonberries are the Swedish version of cranberries! Didn't bother with the brown sugar, but I did add some 1/2 and 1/2 to serve. Yum!
