Step by Step Method

Step 1

Put sugar in a small plastic bag and add 1 drop of liquid food colour.

Step 2

Close the top of the bag and shake vigorously to distribute colour into the sugar.

Step 3

If you want the colour to be brighter repeat the process adding one more drop each time till you get the desired colour.

Step 4

When your sugar reaches desired colour pour onto a small square of foil paper and let dry for about an hour.

Step 5

After sugar has dried you can use right away or pour into a jar for future use.

Step 6

For an easy way to pour the sugar into the jar, just lift the foil and bend it together in a V shape.

I made lots of cookies for the holidays and used these sprinkles on my sugar cookies. I only made half of a recipe because I didn't want any leftover. The sugar came out really well!
