Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2

Mix first 5 dry ingredients in a greased 8" square baking pan. Make 3 depressions in dry ingredients - two small, one larger . Pour vinegar in one depression, vanilla in the other and the vegetable oil in third larger depression. Pour coffee and Kahlúa over all. Mix well until smooth.

Step 3

Bake on middle rack of oven for 35 minutes. Check with toothpick to make sure it comes out clean. Cool. Top with your favorite chocolate frosting

Loved this! So moist it really doesn't need frosting, but I made a chocolate kahlua buttercream frosting and this was fabulous!

Daily Inspiration

Interesting directions for a cake, but it worked perfectly. I love baking with kahlua and this cake was really delicious . Easy to make with great results. : )

I made my first Wacky (Crazy) cake in 1954, when I was 7. One of the first real recipes I made on my own. In my 72 years I have made many more and a few variations, but this is my first "adult" version. Absolutely delicious. I rarely frost them, as they are so moist on their own. I served this with some whipped cream.

Great cake, so easy to make. Quite chocolatey and the kahlua makes it special! I made a simple chocolate & kahlua buttercream to frost it with - oh so good!
