"This is a modified version of a recipe in the Baker's Chocolate cookbook. This can probably be made as cupcakes. It can be topped with a glaze and garnished with chopped nuts."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Mix flour, soda, and salt.
Step 2
Cream butter, and gradually add sugar, beating in until light and fluffy.
Step 3
Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each.
Step 4
Blend in chocolate.
Step 5
Alternately add flour mixture and buttermilk, a little at a time, beating after each addition.
Step 6
Add vanilla (and nuts if desired) and mix in.
Step 7
Pour into 2 greased and floured 9"x5" loaf pans.
Step 8
Bake at 350' F. about 60 minutes or till cake tester inserted in centers comes out clean.
Step 9
Cool 10 minutes, then remove from pans and finish cooling on racks.
Step 10
Top with glaze if desired. Garnish with chopped nuts to taste.
