Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2
Pour boiling water over dates and set aside to cool.
Step 3
Cream shortening, sugar, egg, and vanilla.
Step 4
Add chocolate.
Step 5
Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with dates.
Step 6
Beat well and add nuts.
Step 7
Bake in pan ( 9 x 5 x 3) in preheated oven for 1 hour.
