  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate (melted)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup walnuts

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Pour boiling water over dates and set aside to cool.

  • Step 6: Beat well and add nuts.
