"Well, It's not ice cream ... but, it's the next best thing. I originally saw this in a Family Circle magazine; but, since then ... I see versions all over the internet. It is a granita, SO NO cream, but ... still decadently delicious. I just serve with a dollop of whipped cream and chocolate shaving. I also substitute 1/4 cup of the coffee with 1/4 cup vodka."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Granita Mix ... Add all the ingredients to a glass 13x9 pan; and, mix well until the chocolate and sugar is melted, dissolved; and, combined. This will take a good 5 minutes - don't rush it. Just keep stirring.
Step 2
Freezing ... Freeze for at least 5 hours; it is best all day. IMPORTANT - Make sure to use a fork; and, scrape the dish/granita every hour. This creates the ice crystals; which make the granita. My freezer took about 6-7 hours; but, my freezer is also very full.
Step 3
Serving ... Before serving, scrape once again, breaking it up so it resembles a frozen ice, or a 'slushy.' I serve mine in a martini glass, with a little dollop of whipped topping and chocolate shavings. You can also drizzle a little chocolate sauce over the top.
Step 4
It's really delicious, full of flavor; but for a dessert - it is still pretty light. ENJOY!
