"This recipe comes from a very old cookbook which I have had for many years. The addition of chilli to the prawns adds a spicy flavour. It is suggested this recipe served over spaghetti, but I think rice would work well also."

  • When selecting the chilli pepper, make sure to choose one that is red and ripe for the best flavor.
  • For the shrimp, select fresh, large shrimp for the best flavor and texture.

  • Replace the sherry with white wine – This substitution will add a more subtle sweetness to the dish, while still providing a complex flavor.
  • Replace the chilli pepper with bell pepper – This substitution will provide a milder flavor to the dish, making it more suitable for those who are not used to spicy food.

Lemon-Garlic Prawns Heat the oil in a wok over a medium heat, add the garlic and ginger. Stir in the lemon juice and simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the prawns and simmer until just cooked. Serve on a bed of spaghetti garnished with chopped parsley and a sprinkle of lemon zest.

Roasted Vegetables: Roasted vegetables are a great accompaniment to this chilli prawns dish. They provide a complementary texture and flavor, and can be cooked in the same oven as the prawns. Roasting vegetables brings out their natural sweetness and adds a delicious crunch to the dish.

Grilled Asparagus: Grilled asparagus is a great side dish to pair with this chilli prawns dish. It can be cooked in the same pan as the prawns and has a delicious smoky flavor. The asparagus is a great source of vitamins and minerals, and its crunchy texture will contrast nicely with the tender prawns. Plus, it's a healthy and light option that won't overpower the main dish.

I scaled back for 1 serve and used Australian King Prawns and 1/2 a small chilli with seeds as I like a bit of kick and added the pasta to the prawns in the pan with a little of pasta water to create a bit of sauce. Thank you Tisme for a great dinner, made for Pick Me Tag game under the 48 hour rule.
