Step by Step Method

FOR THE DRESSING

Step 1

W/a whisk, mix oil, vinegar, sugar, salt & pepper. Allow to stand & be sure to blend well again B4 adding to the slaw.

FOR THE SLAW

Step 2

Combine dressing, shredded cabbage, green onions & cashews. Chill at least 1 hr. Just before serving, add & mix the crispy rice noodles, if using.

NOTE RE YIELD: To get the stated # of servings & the right proportions for the "dressed" slaw if you opt to use a bagged slaw product, be careful to get an amt of the bagged slaw product roughly equal to 1 head of cabbage

NOTE FROM ME: I made this recipe on impulse 1 evening w/cabbage I needed to use, but did not realize I was out of rice noodles after advising that they not be left out, so the pic I took does not reflect that ingredient being used

Nice take on cole slaw! Or should I say twisted take? And it didn't even have avocados, how 'bout that!? Come to think of it, one could probably add some the next time! (Since you didn't add the extra crunches, I didn't either - Monkey see, monkey do!)

Smells Like Salad

This was a fun, retro recipe to prepare. I reduced the servings to one for myself and used mostly green cabbage with some red cabbage and shredded carrots included for color. We have a local restaurant that sells small bags of housemade rice noodles which I purchased for this salad. The oil used was Spectrum sesame oil with a few drops of toasted dark sesame oil added. I also threw in last minute some coarsely chopped fresh cilantro-it being a favorite herb of mine. Made for the FYC tag game.
