"This is such a lovely side dish to add to almost any meal especially Holiday meals. Goes great with Lamb, Ham, Turkey, Roast Beef and others. They only take 10 minutes to saute. This recipe was originally from My Recipes. If you wish to use fresh onions, clean them and steam them for about 5 minutes before proceeding with the recipe"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Melt butter in a non stick skillet, medium heat, add sugar and onions Saute 8 minutes stirring often.

Step 2

Add red pepper and remaining ingredient, stir frequently for another 2 minutes.

Step 3

The onions should be golden and the pepper still crisp

We enjoyed these onions very much -- found some colored pearl onions in the store and didn't know what to do with them and this recipe was perfect. I did add two sliced potatoes, cooking the potatoes for a bit before adding the rest of the ingredients. I also used fresh rosemary. Wonderful side dish and will be having this again soon. Thanks for sharing!
