Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a large kettle, combine the apples, water and butter

Step 2

Cook and stir over low heat until apples are soft

Step 3

Stir in pectin and bring to a rolling boil and stir constantly

Step 4

Add the sugars, cinnamon and nutmet and return to a rolling boil for 1 minute while continuing to stir constantly

Step 5

Remove from the heat and skim off any foam

Step 6

Ladle hot jam into hot sterilized jars, leaving 1/4 inch headspace. Adjust caps and process for 10 minutes in a boiling hot water bath

Lets Eat

This is a great jam and I am so happy to have run across this recipe! Since you mentioned it's great as an ice cream topping the first time I made it I did use it on ice cream and it is fabulous! Since then though I have used it to top my toast and also to top my pancakes. Both delicious of course!
