Step by Step Method
Step 1
Butter a baking sheet.
Step 2
Melt butter in a large saucepan.
Step 3
Add sugar and heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
Step 4
Add water and corn syrup.
Step 5
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly till temperature on a candy thermometer. reaches 290 degrees.
Step 6
Remove from heat and stir in nuts.
Step 7
Pour candy mixture onto baking sheet and spread to 1/4 inch thick.
Step 8
As crunch cools, loosen from baking sheet 2 or 3 times with a spatula.
Step 9
Melt chocolate over hot water.
Step 10
Spread half of thechocolate over cooled crunch.
Step 11
When firm, turn crunch over and spread with remaining chocolate.
Step 12
When firm, break into pieces.
Step 13
Store in tightly covered container, in a cool place.
