  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup nuts, finely chopped
  • 1 package (6 ounce) semisweet chocolate (pieces)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Butter a baking sheet.

  • Step 2: Melt butter in a large saucepan.

  • Step 3: Add sugar and heat to boiling, stirring constantly.

  • Step 4: Add water and corn syrup.

  • Step 5: Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly till temperature on a candy thermometer. reaches 290 degrees.

  • Step 6: Remove from heat and stir in nuts.

  • Step 7: Pour candy mixture onto baking sheet and spread to 1/4 inch thick.

  • Step 8: As crunch cools, loosen from baking sheet 2 or 3 times with a spatula.

  • Step 9: Melt chocolate over hot water.

  • Step 10: Spread half of thechocolate over cooled crunch.

  • Step 11: When firm, turn crunch over and spread with remaining chocolate.

  • Step 12: When firm, break into pieces.

  • Step 13: Store in tightly covered container, in a cool place.
