Step 1: Butter a baking sheet.
Step 2: Melt butter in a large saucepan.
Step 3: Add sugar and heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
Step 4: Add water and corn syrup.
Step 5: Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly till temperature on a candy thermometer. reaches 290 degrees.
Step 6: Remove from heat and stir in nuts.
Step 7: Pour candy mixture onto baking sheet and spread to 1/4 inch thick.
Step 8: As crunch cools, loosen from baking sheet 2 or 3 times with a spatula.
Step 9: Melt chocolate over hot water.
Step 10: Spread half of thechocolate over cooled crunch.
Step 11: When firm, turn crunch over and spread with remaining chocolate.
Step 12: When firm, break into pieces.
Step 13: Store in tightly covered container, in a cool place.
