Brussel Sprouts in Bacon Sauce

"This is a lovely side dish for Brussels Sprout lovers. I’m the only who eats Brussels sprouts at home, so I usually have this as main dish for myself!!"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Trim stems and outer leaves from sprouts.

Step 2

Boil or steam, covered, for 10 minutes, or until crispy-tender.

Step 3

Cook bacon until crisp; remove from pan and drain, reserving 1 tablespoon of fat from pan.

Step 4

Add onion and sauté until tender, about 5 minutes.

Step 5

Combine sour cream, flour, salt and pepper.

Step 6

Stir sour cream mixture into onion; add crumbled bacon and heat sauce through. If sauce is too thick, add a bit of milk to thin it out.

Step 7

When sprouts are done, drain well, top with sauce and serve.

Made these a few weeks ago. Delicious flavor. The only thing I didn't do was add the flour. The sauce for me was fine without it and they came out perfect. I did add a little garlic to mine as the onions cooked. Wonderful recipe!

I was planning on making Brussels sprouts with bacon for Thanksgiving already, then I saw this one with the addition of sour cream. I was worried it would be too much since I like my veggies more simple. they are a great addition to a holiday table. Perfect as written.

YUMMMMMM I made these over the weekend, I didn't even measure anything I just eyeballed all ingredients and also added in some fresh garlic, I ate the whole thing myself and I plan on making this again very soon, I just loved it!!!! this was tagged for RZ Recipebook Tag Game in the forums. thanks for sharing Beatrice
