Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Step 2
Place 1/4 of the potatoes in a single layer in the bottom of a 9" round baking dish, overlapping them slightly.
Step 3
Brush with 1/4 of the butter.
Step 4
Sprinkle with 1/4 of the cheese.
Step 5
Add some salt and pepper if you really think it's necessary.
Step 6
Repeat layers 3 times, ending with cheese.
Step 7
Cover with a piece of buttered foil.
Step 8
Bake for 40-45 minutes.
Step 9
Uncover and bake until cheese is melted, browned and crusty.
Step 10
Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
