"Basic old time recipe. They just used pork gravy. I'm reworking a little how they cooked it and adding soy sauce which they didn't do . This was a pretty popular way to extend leftover pork roast and celery was fairly cheap."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Drain bean sprouts juice into pot with celery and onions.

Step 2

Add butter and cook until just tender. They said 30 minutes, I would just cook until juice evaporates.

Step 3

Add rest of ingredients and cook until tight. They simmered everything together from the start.

Step 4

Season to taste.

Step 5

Soy sauce to taste.

Step 6

Serve with side of rice and over hot chow mein noodles.

Step 7

Sprinkle on green onions.
