"Basic old time recipe. They just used pork gravy. I'm reworking a little how they cooked it and adding soy sauce which they didn't do . This was a pretty popular way to extend leftover pork roast and celery was fairly cheap."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Drain bean sprouts juice into pot with celery and onions.
Step 2
Add butter and cook until just tender. They said 30 minutes, I would just cook until juice evaporates.
Step 3
Add rest of ingredients and cook until tight. They simmered everything together from the start.
Step 4
Season to taste.
Step 5
Soy sauce to taste.
Step 6
Serve with side of rice and over hot chow mein noodles.
Step 7
Sprinkle on green onions.
