Step by Step Method

Step 1

Wash asparagus and snap off tough ends. Place in a steamer basket and steam until just tender, about 5 minutes.

Step 2

In a small saucepan, stir together juice, zest and cornstarch. Cook over medium-high heat until boiling. Let thicken and reduce while stirring with a whisk, about 3 minutes.

Step 3

Remove from heat and add grated ginger.

Step 4

Place asparagus on a serving plate and pour sauce over asparagus; top with toasted almonds.

Wow, such a simple and delicious recipe. The asparagus was just tender to the bite and the flavor of the sauce was wonderful. I did love the added texture and flavor the almonds gave to the sauce. Wouldn't change a thing......just perfection to a " T ".

What a wonderful recipe Mike. We really enjoyed the asparagus prepared this way. The asparagus was tender yet still firm while the sauce was out of this world good. Another lovely recipe that adds a new dimension to asparagus. Quick easy to make sauce and the added almonds are perfect. Love the recipe Thanks Mike 3 June Made again and enjoyed just as much. I chopped the ginger very finely instead of grating. I'm sorry I rushed and forgot the almonds - they are still sitting on the kitchen counter
