"These turnovers are so easy, and make a very nice dessert. I used fresh apples and they turned out fantastic. I dusted the tops with some icing sugar and served with ice-cream, the family loved them."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Place apples in a bowl with sugar and cinnamon. Mix well.
Step 2
Cut pastry sheets into quarters.
Step 3
Spoon 2 tablespoons of the apple mixture and 1 teaspoon jam onto one half of each pastry square.
Step 4
Brush each square with a little of the egg around edge of pastry.
Step 5
Fold over pastry to enclose filling, then pinch and fold edges to seal.
Step 6
Place turnovers on oven trays lined with baking paper.
Step 7
Brush tops with remaining egg.
Step 8
Cook in a hot oven (200C) for 20 minutes, or until pastry is golden brown.
Step 9
Sprinkle with some sifted icing sugar if desired.
Step 10
The turnovers are best served warm.
