Step by Step Method
Step 1
Cook and stir bacon and onion in Dutch oven or 12 inch skillet until bacon is crisp.

Stir in sauerkraut and brown sugar.
Step 3
Add potatoes ,carrots and apples.
Step 4
Tie juniper berries, peppercorns, cloves, parsley and bay leaf in cheesecloth bag or place in tea ball.
Step 5
Add to sauerkraut.
Step 6
Add pork chops and frankfurters.
Step 7
Pour chicken broth over meat.
Step 8
Heat to boiling.
Step 9
Reduce heat.
Step 10
Cover and simmer until meat is done and potatoes are tender, about 30 minutes.
Step 11
Remove spice bag.
Step 12
Transfer sauerkraut, potatoes, carrots and apples to large platter with slotted spoon.
Step 13
Arrange meat around edge.
