"Joe Aurelio opened his first restaurant in Homewood, Illinois, in 1959. Since then, his sauce recipe has been a closely guarded secret. This is my attempt to recreate this sauce. Not everyone agrees that beer was used in the sauce, but I believe that beer creates the flavor closest to the original. Thanks to HandsomeG and Gaga at for some clues that led to the creation of this recipe. This makes about 5 cups, enough for two pizzas. This is also good served over pasta. Note: this may or may not be vegetarian, depending on how the beer you use is made. Some beers are clarified with isinglass, which comes from fish."

Since this is a secret recipe, I knew it had to be good and I was right. It's awesome! I used it to make a thin crust pizza and it is just what I was looking for.
