"This is one of my favourite Christmas cookies from Dr Oetker's Baking is Fun. It's very easy to make and has a wonderful buttery flavour. This recipe will make about 100 cookies."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325 Fahrenheit and grease a baking sheet or line with parchment paper.

Step 2

Combine icing sugar with 2nd packet of icing sugar and set aside.

Step 3

Blend first four ingredients together in a large bowl.

Step 4

Cut butter into small pieces over flour/almond mixture.

Step 5

Using clean hands, quickly work all ingredients together until you have a smooth dough.

Step 6

Shape dough into pencil-sized ribbons and cut into 2-inch pieces.

Step 7

Place on prepared baking sheet and bend into crescent shapes.

Step 8

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until cookies are a light golden colour.

Step 9

Roll warm cookies in reserved icing sugar/vanilla sugar mixture.
