"This classic dessert recipe features vanilla ice cream topped with a shot of hot espresso. You can also add some alcohol to make it really decadent. Or try chocolate or hazelnut ice cream for a different treat sensation."
What is the base of the Italian dessert affogato?
Icecream and espresso.
What ice cream is best for affogato?
Vanilla is the classic flavor. Hazelnut and chocolate are popular alternatives.
Step by Step Method
Make 4 shots of espresso.
Place a scoop of ice cream in each bowl. Pour espresso over ice cream.
Add Bailey's or Frangelico, if using.
If you do not have an espresso maker, you can substitute 3 tablespoons strong brewed coffee, or add 1 tablespoon espresso powder to 1/2 cup boiling water.
Either pour the espresso over the ice cream and serve immediately, or serve the espresso on the side and let your guests pour it on themselves.
