"I created this one very hot afternoon when I couldn't find the kind of beef-lettuce wrap that I wanted. Prep time includes chilling time. The chilling time is optional, but helps the texture of the burgers tremendously."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Combine all relish ingredients in a small bowl, mix well, cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Step 2

Combine ground beef, teriyaki sauce, pepper sauce, and garlic powder in a large bowl.

Step 3

Mix well and shape into 8 sausage shapes.

Step 4

Place on a plate and sprinkle with beef base.

Step 5

Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. This step is optional, but highly recommended.

Step 6

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and brown burgers, about 3 minutes.

Step 7

Add cooking ingredients, stir gently, cover and cook about 10 minutes, or until desired degree of doneness is reached.

Step 8

To serve, place a burger on each lettuce leaf. Place a spoonful of relish on each burger, and top with 1-2 basil leaves.

Step 9

Drizzle some of the pan juices over the meat. Roll meat up in lettuce leaves and enjoy!

A special recipe - Loaded with flavor and it looks so attractive 5 star for sure. It looks like it would be labor intensive but it really only takes minutes to get ready to cook. Thanks Chocolatl for a great Saturday night dinner
