Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • Roma Relish:
  • 1 large Roma tomato, cut in small dice
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced red onions
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced red peppers
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • Burgerdogs:
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 4 tablespoons tropical-flavored teriyaki sauce (Soy Vay Island Teriyaki recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons mild pepper sauce (Try Me Tiger Sauce recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon beef base
  • For cooking:
  • 2 tablespoons tropical-flavored teriyaki sauce (Soy Vay Island Teriyaki recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon mild pepper sauce (Try Me Tiger Sauce recommended)
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • 1/8 teaspoon finely minced jalapeno, or to taste
  • 1 dash red wine vinegar
  • For serving:
  • 8 lettuce leaves
  • 8-16 leaves fresh basil

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine all relish ingredients in a small bowl, mix well, cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

  • Step 2: Combine ground beef, teriyaki sauce, pepper sauce, and garlic powder in a large bowl.

  • Step 3: Mix well and shape into 8 sausage shapes.

  • Step 4: Place on a plate and sprinkle with beef base.

  • Step 5: Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. This step is optional, but highly recommended.

  • Step 6: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and brown burgers, about 3 minutes.

  • Step 7: Add cooking ingredients, stir gently, cover and cook about 10 minutes, or until desired degree of doneness is reached.

  • Step 8: To serve, place a burger on each lettuce leaf. Place a spoonful of relish on each burger, and top with 1-2 basil leaves.

  • Step 9: Drizzle some of the pan juices over the meat. Roll meat up in lettuce leaves and enjoy!
