Step by Step Method

Step 1

In large skillet

Brown the ground beef along with the diced onions.

Add garlic

Once browned, drain the fat if needed.

Add the cayenne pepper, salt, and the chili powder to the pot.

Add tomato paste

Cook but don't burn

Pour in the water and make sure that the seasoning is well mixed in and dissolved by whisking hard.

In a small bowl

Combine the cornstarch and water, then whisk in to the pot.

Add the refried beans to the pot.

Keep stirring the pot until the refried beans have become smooth and everything is well combined.

Reduce the heat down to low simmer

Let the pot simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently so nothing sticks and burns on the bottom.

Run each of the tortillas under faucet to wet. Do it fast

Place the tortillas on a microwave safe plate put paper towels over

And microwave them for 1 minute.(or until warmed and pliable)

Meanwhile

Add the shredded cheese and taco sauce to the pot.

Keep folding the cheese in until it has all melted.

Step 22

Cooking a bit stirring constantly so doesn't burn

To serve, spoon 4 tablespoons of the chili cheese sauce into the center of the warmed flour tortilla.

Add a bit of sour cream

Step 25

Pull one end up to the center to cover the sauce. Tuck the ends of the tortilla in and fold

I haven't been to a Taco Bell in many, many years so I can't say for certain if these taste just like theirs... but I can say they're delicious! It was nice to have an easy filling for burritos for our "Taco Tuesday" that was made in one pan.
