Step by Step Method

Step 1

If you have a dough hook for your mixer all of the mixing can be done with a mixer. If you do not have a dough hook mix by hand.

Step 2

Combine honey, orange zest and all spices in mixing bowl. Using dough hook, mix on low speed until all ingredients are combined.

Step 3

Add almonds, apricots and dates. Mix well.

Step 4

The dough is going to be VERY sticky. Pinch off bite sized pieces or use a small cookie scoop, roll into balls. Set aside on baking sheet.

Step 5

Roll balls in powdered sugar.

Step 6

Refrigerate in airtight container with waxed paper or parchment between layers. Let set overnight.

Step 7

Remove refrigerator about an hour before serving. The sugar plums will absorb the powdered sugar. You can resugar just before serving for a sweeter sugar plum.
