Streusel Apple Pie Bars With Cream Cheese Glaze
July 24, 2014
"These are a compilation of several recipes. I wanted something that would taste like apple pie but would serve more than eight people. Instead of the cream cheese icing, you can drizzle these with caramel ice cream topping - they're great either way!"

TO MAKE THE CRUST
Mix dry ingredients together with a fork or whisk in mixing bowl.
Drizzle in oil, butter and milk and continue to stir until dough forms.
Press evenly into half sheet pan (18x13), coming halfway up the sides.
TO MAKE THE FILLING
In a large bowl, toss sliced apples, lemon juice, sugars, flour, cinnamon and allspice.
Spread filling evenly over crust. It will look very full, but will cook down.
TO MAKE THE STREUSEL
Mix together flour, sugar, oats and nuts; cut in butter until loose and crumbly.
Add egg and mix until crumbly dough forms.
Crumble streusel dough evenly over filling.
Bake at 350F for 60 minutes, or until bubbly around edges.
Allow to cool at least one hour before adding glaze.
For the glaze: Beat softened butter and cream cheese together with whisk or mixer; add in sugar and vanilla extract and continue to mix slowly until creamy.
Add in milk until desired consistency forms. (it should be about the consistency of cinnamon roll frosting)
Using whisk or spoon, drizzle glaze evenly over top of baked and cooled bars. Allow to set 30 minutes before serving.
