Step by Step Method
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking dish or a cast-iron skillet.
In a large bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cayenne pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, melted butter, maple syrup, and eggs.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
