Step by Step Method

Step 1

Add all ingredients to a large slow cooker

Step 2

Cook on low for 3 hours or until heated through. Keep an eye on it so it doesn't boil.

Step 3

Turn slow cooker to warm setting and cook for another 2 hours and stir occasionally.

Step 4

Stir again before serving.

Step 5

Dip rims of cups in caramel sauce and then in graham cracker crumbs(optional).

Step 6

Top with whipped cream and caramel syrup (optional).

A very interesting and warming drink we had on Christmas morning. I used skim milk and coffee -- I think if my coffee was stronger or used expresso it may have been better, but it was still very good. It is important to stir it once in a while as the spices can get very potent, but if using strong dark coffee it will let the coffee flavor through. I skipped the caramel sauce and graham cracker crumbs and forgot the whipped cream. Thanks for sharing!
