"Recipes like this were making the rounds in the 1970's when my mother first tried it, and there are numerous variations today. This is just the one we've always liked best, and we serve it with crudites, with chips, and with crackers or toasted breads. Spoon it in a bowl and garnish with one whole shrimp and a bit of sliced green onion."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Combine softened cream cheese and lemon juice.

Step 2

Stir in green onions and minced shrimp.

Step 3

Add mayo, increasing amount to desired consistency (a spread or a dip). Add some sour cream to thin it even more.

Step 4

Season with Worcestershire, hot sauce, salt and pepper. Reduce or omit the salt and pepper if you use Tony's or Old Bay seasoning.

Step 5

Chill 8 hours to blend flavors. Taste and season again if necessary.

Omit the hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce and add 1/2 teaspoon each of garlic powder and onion powder. Increase the Creole seasoning to 1 teaspoon.

We all indulged in this delicious dip along with an assortment of crackers and munched out for the Super Bowl. We loved this dip! I made it ahead and left it in the fridge for about 10 hours before eating. Great mix of flavors!

I made this for Christmas day. I searched the internet and here for a recipe for shrimp dip. I knew just what I wanted and none of the others looked good to me but this one. It is such an awesome tasting dip that my kids were scraping the bowl to get enough to have on crackers. I will save this for future indulgences!

My sister brought some of this to my house for us to try. We munched out while we were watching the football game and really enjoyed it with crackers and pita chips. We think this is great and I will be making it when I entertain my daughter's future in-laws next weekend. I am sure it will be enjoyed by them too!
