"Recipes like this were making the rounds in the 1970's when my mother first tried it, and there are numerous variations today. This is just the one we've always liked best, and we serve it with crudites, with chips, and with crackers or toasted breads. Spoon it in a bowl and garnish with one whole shrimp and a bit of sliced green onion."

- When selecting shrimp, look for fresh, plump, and odorless shrimp.
- If using Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning or Old Bay seasoning, use sparingly as they are quite salty.
- Substitute Greek yogurt for the mayonnaise to reduce the fat content and add some probiotics. The benefit of this substitution is that it will provide a healthier option with added health benefits.
- Substitute smoked paprika for the Creole seasoning to add a smoky flavor. The benefit of this substitution is that it will add a unique flavor profile to the dip.
Garlic Herb Shrimp Spread/Dip Follow all the instructions as above, but add 2 cloves of garlic, minced, and 2 tablespoons of fresh herbs (such as parsley, thyme, oregano, or dill) to the mixture. Omit the hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce and add 1/2 teaspoon each of garlic powder and onion powder. Increase the Creole seasoning to 1 teaspoon.
Garlic Parmesan Potato Wedges: These savory potato wedges are a great side dish to serve with the Shrimp Spread/Dip. They are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the garlic and parmesan cheese add a delicious flavor. Plus, they're easy to make and can be served hot or cold.
Grilled Asparagus: This simple and healthy side dish is the perfect accompaniment to the Shrimp Spread/Dip. Grilled asparagus is lightly seasoned with olive oil, garlic, and lemon juice, giving it a bright, citrusy flavor. It's also a great source of vitamins and minerals, making it a nutritious addition to any meal.
