Step by Step Method

French-Style Pizza Crust


Step 1

Dissolve yeast and sugar in water.

Step 2

Add flour and salt. Knead until smooth.

Step 3

Cover and let rise until doubled in bulk (about 1 hour).

Step 4

Cut into 2 portions. Let rest 15 minutes.

Step 5

Pat or roll to even thickness in 2 (15 1/2 x 10 1/2-inch) jellyroll pans. Set aside.

Topping


Step 6

Brown ground beef and onion in a large skillet.

Step 7

Add tomatoes, tomato paste, water, oregano, salt to taste, basil, garlic powder and pepperoni. Sauté until mixture comes to a boil. Simmer a few minutes.

Step 8

Spread sauce on prepared French-Style Pizza Crust in pans.

Step 9

Sprinkle each pizza with cheese.

Step 10

Bake at 400 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes or until cheese layer is bubbly and browned.

Step 11

Cut each pizza into 12 squares.

I scaled this down to a 6 serving pizza for a test run the day before we were planning on serving this and we felt it needed something more. I made it again for super bowl Sunday scaling the recipe down to half and used Italian sausage meat instead of ground beef and added shredded mozzarella cheese; it worked very well.
