Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375° F.
Step 2
Place clams and cracker crumbs in alternating layers in a large, greased casserole.

Melt butter in a skillet.
Step 4
Stir in flour.
Step 5
Gradually stir in milk, cayenne, thyme, marjoram, and salt, and cook until thickened.
Step 6
Pour over clams.
Step 7
Top with buttered bread crumbs, if desired.
Step 8
Sprinkle with paprika.
Step 9
Bake until well-browned, about 30 minutes.
