Step by Step Method

Step 1

Brown sausage with onion, mashing the sausage down with a potato masher while cooking to break into small, finer pieces. Remove from pan and set aside.

Step 2

Add butter to the same pan over medium heat. Once the butter has melted add flour, stirring until fully incorporated. Slowly pour in whole milk or light cream whisking constantly to break up any lumps. Continue to whisk over medium heat until gravy begins to thicken, coating the back of a spoon.

Step 3

Add sausage back into the gravy. Stir in Old Bay seasoning. Season with salt and pepper. Serve over your favorite biscuits.

I had some Frozen biscuits and Heat and Eat Sausage patties and didn't want to serve them as Sausage Biscuits, so I did a search for gravy and found this recipe . The recipe was altered just a bit, I browned four of the patties in a small amount of canola oil, removed the patties and cooked the onion in reserved oil. Then the crumbled sausage was returned to the pan and continued with the recipe. As a Southern woman, I have to tell you that this was a really, really, good Sausage gravy. I also have to tell I'm very pleased to be the first one to photograph, rate, & review this recipe. Thanks for posting and , " Keep Smiling ;) "
