"This recipe is from the Ruth's Chris website. A few years ago we had a large family gathering celebrating my parent's 50th anniversary. There were 3 bowls of this spread around the table.......and my brother and I finished off every one of them. lol."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Combine Crust Mixture in mixing bowl and put to one side.

Step 2

Combine Sweet Potato Mixture ingredients in a mixing bowl in the order listed. Combine thoroughly.

Step 3

Pour Sweet Potato Mixture into buttered baking dish.

Step 4

Sprinkle Crust Mixture evenly onto surface of Sweet Potato Mixture.

Step 5

Bake for 30 minutes at 350°.

Step 6

Allow to set for at least 30 minutes before serving.

This is the same recipe we have used since my great-great grandmother served Thanksgiving dinner. Sometimes we switch it up and mix regular sugar with brown sugar to put in the potatoes, but normally stay with the regular. Delicious!

Addictive! This is so delicious and of all the sides, this was the most popular. It is a precious recipe to be saved for many more Holiday celebrations or simply to make as a comfort side dish for any day. Made a little extra than 2 cups of mashed sweet potatoes, so also increased the topping, turning out into a nice thickish topping. I will keep on making it like this. Kudos to this recipe. Wow, wow, wow. My kitchen smelled amazing while this lovely treat was in the oven. The sweet potato casserole was delicious, sweet and nutty. I loved it. I made my husband without nuts and he enjoyed it also. Thanks for sharing this lovely recipe which has gone into my keeper file.
